The Maryland Lottery Division is responsible for the administration of the state’s lottery. It oversees the promotion and advertising of the games. Each of the eight units in the Division has a specific responsibility.
One of these is Creative Services, which develops and manages advertising strategies. It also purchases and evaluates the effectiveness of advertising space.
Another unit is Information Technology, which works on internal data systems and website infrastructure. Information Technology became a subunit of the Administration, Finance and Operations Division in November 2015.
The Maryland Amusement Game Advisory Committee, which advises the State Lottery and Gaming Control Commission, was established by the General Assembly in June 2014. Aside from the Director of the State Lottery and Gaming Control Agency, there are six members. They are appointed by the Governor.
An important function of the Maryland Lottery Division is to recruit new outlets and retail locations. The Division monitors compliance of retailers and plans promotional campaigns. Besides, the Division plans and launches new games.
The State Lottery and Gaming Control Agency has a records management program. There is a Records Officer who serves as a liaison with the Department of General Services and the State Archives.
